Increasing accessibility to the arts

Arts leadership focused on cultural diversity

Marjorie Chan is a long-time respected figure in Toronto’s independent theatre world. As artististic director of Cahoots Theatre, she focused on increasing accessibility to the arts through programs for refugees, such as Crossing Gibraltar, which was nominated for a Canada’s Citizenship Award in 2010. Beyond this, Chan also focused on building online resources for deaf artists through the Deaf Artists and Theatres Tookit, and supporting diverse projects that explore cross-cultural conversations. She is now the artistic director for Theatre Passe Muraille.
